LYNN -- Starting over in midlife is not an easy thing to do, especially when you’re
doing it alone. Jeannie Cappiello is one such person who at the prime of her life
has decided to follow the path that her heart has chosen for her; art.

Cappiello grew up in Somerville and for most of her life she did what most of us
did, went to work to pay the bills, but in the process she felt incomplete so one day
she walked into an art gallery and met a person that changed her life.

“I’m scared because this is new to me and I’m not sure where it’s all going, said
Jeannie, “but I feel so good about my paintings and my creations.” “I recently
started painting,” she said, "it’s been something I’ve dreamed of doing for many
years and I couldn’t get beyond my fear until I met a new friend about a year ago
artist Terry Laspesa.”
Laspesa owns a gallery called Spirit Imprints in Harwich Port, Massachusetts, and she has been
encouraging Jeannie to start painting since they met. “I still couldn’t seem to get started, and then
I went to an Expo in Peabody, at the Holiday Inn. The Expo was sponsored by Zu’s Zu’s Beads, a
new age gift shop in Saugus, MA.” “At the Expo I met an Artist named Anne Deidre Smith of Inner
Visions Gallery in Manchester, NH who did a lecture on her art work.” According to Cappiello,
Anne inspired her with her words and her art. “I new at that point I had to take a leap of faith and
walk through my fears, and soon after I started painting, and I love it,” she said. “I realized all
these years I thought I had to paint something I saw such as an ocean view or an object etc., and
then I realized I just had to paint what I feet and what came to my mind and the fear was lifted.”

Cappiello works from her home studio in Lynn, and having witnessed several of her paintings and
jewelry creations, such as earrings, necklaces and bracelets, I can say that she has found her
direction.

The paintings are based entirely on what she is feeling at the time, and range from passion to
passive...“I have created an eclectic collection of art using Water Colors and Acrylics. “I have
been told my art brings a message of Love, Passion, Whimsy, Dreams and more.”
